Erin + Michael Engagement Session, Newberg, OR

July 25, 2014 in couples, engagement, Oregon, portrait
“If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance.”
— Bern Williams

Erin and Michael are such a sweet pair. We got to explore Champoeg State Park, or really, they showed me around as I had never been there before and they happen to go all the time, the lucky ducks. Champoeg is striking, wildly beautiful and natural. I loved the woods, the fields, the river, the sunset. It was all so stunning and it was such a dream to shoot there on a sunny evening with these two.

Erin and Michael were so fun to hang out with. They are so sweet with each other and truly enjoy each others company, it was a treat to see and a joy to capture their love in these images. I'm looking forward to capturing their wedding this August!

Malaika Mae

June 12, 2014 in babies, families, newborn, Portland, portrait, Oregon

Meet Malaika Mae.

My good friends Tiffany and Ghaith just light up around their sweet baby girl. She's a miracle of a baby and an answer to prayer for this family and it was such a privilege to capture these images for them.

Tiffany and Ghaith are also the owners of Dar Salam, the best Iraqi food in town. If you haven't been, you should, because it's so delicious. Trust me :)

Enjoy these pictures of these gorgeous family.

Annika (Portland, OR)

June 02, 2014

Meet Annika, a lovely lady I was fortunate to meet earlier this Spring. She moved to Portland, Oregon from Germany with her husband a few years ago. She's currently advancing her career as a writer and nutrition coach.  Check out her site! http://www.cartatouille.com

Annika is such a sweet soul and was open with me about her journey of life and loss and what grieving and remembering and celebrating looks like in this stage of her life. We wanted to do a shoot to capture her love of life, the outdoors and her sweet dog, Fleur (who is just the cutest) as well as capture some of the beauty that we are lucky to live in here in the Pacific Northwest.

Baby Mason Newborn Session (Poulsbo, WA)

May 19, 2014

Welcome Baby Mason!

I got to take pictures of my cousin's baby Mason, soon after he was born. What can I say? I fell in love instantly. His little fingers and toes and attitude. He's amazing and I'm so excited to watch him grow.

One thing I love about newborn sessions is that I never have any idea how they will go. So often I am taking pictures of subjects and they listen to me when I say tilt your head this way or that or step near this window or that tree, but newborns don't listen a wink; they are just as they are and it's the most precious thing.

I showed my cousin a picture from our session with Mason sleeping and angelic looking and she laughed and said, "you would never know that he cried and screamed the whole rest of the time." and isn't that just how life with a baby goes? One second they are sleeping and dreaming and are the calmest little being on the planet and the next they are screaming and flailing and in need. It's such a rhythm of becoming and growing and I just love getting to experience and document that rhythm with and for parents. I admire all of you moms and dads out there, you have a wonderfully hard and beautiful job.

I hope you enjoy the balance of life with a baby in this images and the teamwork between Erin and Jeff, like when he scratches Erin's nose with his chin :)

Estabrook's Family Session (Portland, OR)

April 24, 2014 in families, kids, maternity, Portland, portrait, Oregon

I spent the afternoon with the Estabrooks a couple weeks ago at Cathedral Park capturing some moments in the beautiful golden hour sunlight. Liz and Jonathan are wonderful people and I'm so lucky to be in community with them both. I was honored to take pictures of their beautiful family. Their son Samuel is the cutest and so fully of energy and life. I got quite the workout running around the park getting pictures of him. They don't tell you that photography is a workout but I assure you, it is! We were lucky to book a session when Liz's mom was visiting from England, so you'll see a few pictures with her in here, too.

Also, Liz and Jonathan happen to be expecting another baby (!), so we were able to take some maternity pictures as well. Congratulations you two! I'm so happy for your growing family!
