Erin (and Jeff) Maternity Session (Poulsbo, WA)

April 07, 2014 in maternity, portrait, Seattle

This is my beautiful cousin Erin, and her baby to be, Mason. I had the privilege of taking some maternity pictures for Erin last weekend before her baby shower. We had a ton of fun and I'm not going to lie, I had a teary moment. I couldn't believe I was taking maternity pictures for my cousin. She's like a sister to me. I think we went on just about every family vacation together and celebrated our marriages as maids of honor for each other. It's just crazy to think that she and her husband Jeff are about to have a beautiful baby of their own and I am getting all teary just thinking about it again. I'm just so excited for the two of them and know they will be such wonderful parents. I will let the pictures speak from here :)

amazement.

March 17, 2014 in adventures, travel

when it’s over, I want to say: all my life

I was a bride married to amazement.

I was a bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.

when it’s over, I don’t want to wonder

if I have made of my life something particular, and real.

I don’t want to find myself sighing and frightened

or full of argument.

I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.

Bethany & Will Engagement Session (Portland, OR)

March 11, 2014 in engagement, couples, Portland, portrait

Bethany and Will are among my favorite people here in Portland. I've had the privilege of being friends with them for several years now. They are two of the most kind and generous and thoughtful people. Bethany is an elementary school teacher and Will does the photography and media design for Lahash International (check them out!). They complement each other in such a wonderful way that you can't help yourself when you think, yes, this pair is so very good together. I'm just really excited for these two and all the adventures they have ahead of them.

We got to explore the industrial area of Portland on a misty day and try and stay out of trouble with the train drivers. Then we headed over to Sellwood Park right on the riverfront. I had such a good time with these two and captured some sweet moments. Enjoy!

A whimsical styled shoot

February 03, 2014 in styled shoots

I had the opportunity to work with some seriously talented folks in Portland this fall on a styled shoot and let me tell you, it was so fun! It was wonderful to see and capture the beauty that local designer, Allison Johansen of The Nature of Isa and florist Lisa Krauter Smith of Woodlawn Floral Studio created for the shoot. There is some phenomenal talent in this town and I love working with other creatives in the industry.

Enjoy these lovelies modeled by the beautiful Chelsea Bieker Giper and Jesika Theos. Hair and makeup by Kara Willis.

I'll be sharing some snapshots of our shoot here but stay tuned for more!

Days like this

February 02, 2014 in adventures, Oregon

Oh my soul, I needed a day like this.

I am so grateful to live in a place that allows me to drive an hour in any direction and be in a place that is so stunningly beautiful. The coast, the country, the river and the mountains, all within reach. It amazes me. I'm thankful for days off and friends that are up for an adventure day. Tromping through the snow and the mountains to see beautiful sights and have good conversations and make new memories. I've always been a water girl, growing up with the Puget Sound at my back and Lake Washington and the coast nearby, I always chose the water over other landscapes. In all my years of life I am coming to the conclusion that I have not spent nearly enough time in the mountains.

It feeds my soul.
